Dreams?

Do you ever try and figure out your dreams?

I don't have dreams very often, but when I do they are always and without fail - weird.

Last night, well this morning (I didn't actually fall asleep until about 5 a.m.) I dreamed that I was a coach at my parish, (not that odd) my house was flooded from a faulty roof, (we just got a new roof in November) and this made my Dad angry, (No idea, he hasn't been to my house in over a year).

I got into trouble for yelling at a player and making her cry. (I don't recall having ever yelled at a player to the point where they were even remotely close to crying.) I also calmed said player so well during the course of a ball game she was pitching, (just by taking the ball from her for a minute and looking at her with my "calm down" look) that she won the game and we were both heroes. A major league scout came and said I was totally "in control" of the game and she would definitely want me to run a game for her team (although I haven't been a head coach since K was 7.)

The win and the scout saved me at my trial with the lady in charge of the school, (my high school chemistry teacher?) who allowed me to keep my coaching job once I correctly identified the first commandment, although my father had missed on the eighth.

I was however to remain contrite.

Okay - what the heck does this dream mean? It's been bugging me all morning.

Okay, I'll take a stab at it... Some comments may be snarky, some for real.

For real--You have got to get more sleep. When I have bouts of insomnia my dreams start to get pretty freaky. I think this dream is your body's way of saying you need to chill and get some sleep. But because I have insomnia sometimes too I get it--so much easier to say "get more sleep" than to do it.

Roof and Dad--probably just on your mind so they popped up.

Yelling thing--have you yelled at someone lately? Gotten really angry even if you didn't let it out? Maybe that's what this is about. But your mind is saying, "hey, wasn't that bad and things worked out." Or you are being told to try to work it out. Or you drank too much last night. Or ate a burrito.

Beats me why the chemistry teacher thing came up. Did you have Doc Ellen too? Doc taught by trying to make learning fun. Are you teaching something (ha, like I don't know you teach all the time!)? Has it been fun for you and the student? Just some thoughts...

First commandment--Beats me. You seem to keep God in a pretty good place in your life.

Eighth commandment--Um, I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. We can talk later if you want. Here's my funny response to leave you with a smile: Don't steal bases when playing ball.

Biggest message: Get some sleep!

Dream Meanings For Yelling
To dream that you or someone is yelling, represents repressed anger that need to be expressed.

Dream Meanings For Win
To dream that you win at something, signifies triumph and success. You have much confidence and belief in yourself. All your self-doubts have subsided.

Dream Meanings For Contest
To dream that you enter or are in a contest, indicates the need to prove yourself as worthy and deserving. If you win the contest, then it represents your self-confidence, pride, and/or conceit. If you lose the contest, then it indicates a lack of self-esteem. You may not be fully applying yourself to the task at hand.

Love the Internet....anyway, you probably picked up kellyh79's water leak in her basement and had residual anger over some dumb letter you got, but you have a lot of self confidence, as per normal.

Don't you just love these crazy type dreams? NOT!

Personally, I don't think dreams mean anything. I have messed up crazy dreams all the time - I enjoy trying to remember all of the weird things about them in the morning. Dreams are just a mix of random stimuli from the day. If nothing else, you've had a lot on your mind lately - and you've gotten frustrated a lot lately too for various reasons. Your brain is just trying to work through all that.

I cant really say what your dream means, but I will say that knowing I'm not the only one who has these weird kind of dreams makes me feel a little less....ummm crazy perhaps....

nice blog btw, it is always nice to find a guy on here who likes to write about his family! :)

Wow, what incredible analysis. Thank you all. I guess in the end I don't know what the dream means exactly, but I can at least identify the origin for most of the elements involved like the dumb letter Don't know about that darn 8th commandment though.

Or maybe it all does mean nothing...

Yes, Jul I had Doc Ellen and loved her. First day of school she always said something like "Oh, in case you have any doubts I give grades based on how much I like you." Of course she never did, but I know she did give grades based on how hard you worked even if the work didn't show it necessarily. Great Lady.

Becky - welcome to The Life of Jimmer - I'm sure many of my friends would tell you I write and talk about my family waaaaay too much. I can't help it though. They're incredible and I love 'em.

Alright - time to work and dream about sleep whatever that is...

my DH just had a dream last night where I was showing Paula Abdul and Ed Begley Jr around the concert hall that we owned (in the dream) and telling them all about Celtic music.
